Team congratulates Gigliotti after breaking the school record for most goals in a single season

The Punxsutawney Chucks boys soccer team is nearing the end of their season with the District 9 championship in their sights.
Coach Eric Eddy said the team has been playing well throughout the entire season. He said they’ve done a great job at moving the ball down the field, also known as playing inside the system.

John Mizerock, a junior player, said that the team has achieved many impressive accomplishments this season.

“We set the school record for most goals in a season, over 100 and counting, and competing at districts is our next milestone we’re going for,” Mizerock said.

One great individual achievement this season was breaking the school record for most goals in a single season by a player. The previous record, held by Tyler Presloid, of 33 goals was broken by Vincent Gigliotti, who surpassed the record in their home match against Brockway. He currently has 38 goals this season.

The Chucks have also built up a respectable record consisting of 10 wins and only 3 losses.

“Even with some tough losses, we can keep our heads up and look forward to doing better in the next game,” Mizerock said.
Eddy said they have done a good job of picking each other up and showing support amongst the team.

This season, Eddy said their biggest competition has been Karns City, which is one of the possible teams that they could be playing for the District 9 title.

The Chucks will be facing off against Keystone at Keystone on Monday, October 14th at 6:00 PM.
