PAHS Varsity Girls Basketball journey to State game
State playoffs, all the hard work and dedication led up to this one game. The Punxsy girls basketball team had confidence and nerves going into Saturday’s game against Central Valley but they knew what they had to do and were ready to play.
Going into the season with a good mindset, the girls season ended with a hard fought loss in overtime to make their record 19-5.
Going into Saturday’s game each girl had their own individual game plan of what they wanted to achieve. Sarah Weaver who is a junior on the team knew exactly her goal for this game. “I knew I had to play good defense especially on 21, and had to be ready to shoot on offense,” Weaver said.
Even with the nerves of the good players on the team the girls were ready to play. “Good defense, and we had to execute on offense with every play, and focus on transitions,” freshman Chloe Presloid said.
“I knew I had to lose the nerves and start out fast,” Ryley Casaday said.
The girls ended the season this year very strong and never gave up even when challenges were through their way. With one senior leaving, there is still a very strong team for next year. “My goal for next year is to hit 1,000 points and continue being a team player” Weaver said.
“Hopefully win the next state playoff game and go even farther with my senior girls” Casaday said.
Next year season has very high expectations, and with all the hard work and time the girls put into the game the season should end the same or even better.
