Game Day Cafe to take place on Saturday

On Saturday, French teacher Miss McMeekin and several of her students will be hosting the Game Day Café with a few students. They are using this to help fundraise for the French classes’ trip to New Orleans.

The Game Day Café will take place in the High School Library from 11:30 am to 3 pm, and the admission fee at the door is $8 per person or $10 for a family of up to 4 people.

McMeekin said that the individual cost for the trip per student is $1,390 and that they’re hoping to raise as much as possible to cover some of the cost. According to McMeekin, there are about ten students signed up to go on the trip.

“The purpose of this trip is for students to appreciate and experience historical French influences on American culture,” McMeekin said. “It’s also meant to shine a light on French language and culture beyond France’s borders.”

McMeekin said the idea for the Game Day Café came from Penn State DuBois, who holds something similar. She included the café portion because some of her students wanted to have a bake sale, but couldn’t find a place to host it.

The Game Day Café will include board, card, and video games, and will consist of a pop-up café with separate costs for individual items. Some of the games include Just Dance, Guitar Hero, Uno, Clue, Exploding Kittens, and many more.

McMeekin would like to thank everyone who is planning to support the students as they fundraise for their trip.
